Certificate IV in Christian Ministry

The Institute of Contemporary Leadership is a member of the Australian College of Ministries (ACOM) LocalNet Training Network, enabling us to provide accredited training. The Certificate IV in Christian Ministry is the accredited qualification we offer through ACOM. Our desire is to invest in people and develop them making the most of the resources God has given them and accredited training is an important part of that goal.

The Certificate IV in Christian Ministry program encourages discipleship and leadership by recognising the learning that people do in the life of the church and opens many new opportunities in learning and ministry.

Students who have completed any of the above accredited courses or units, and want to do further training with ACOM, can receive credit towards further study up to and including a Bachelor of Theology. Students can also receive credit at TAFE and university level where appropriate.

Degrees Offered

The Australian College of Ministries (incorporating the Institute for Contemporary Church Leadership) conducts some of its classes at the Wollongong Church of Christ. Courses in theology and Ministry at both graduate and postgraduate levels are taught in conjunction with the Sydney College of Divinity.

The Australian College of Ministries offers an accredited Master of Arts program. This program has a strong biblical and theological basis with a focus or specialization in church leadership. It is designed both for clergy who wish to take their expertise in the field further and for lay people with little or no theological background. This program permits men and women with acceptable tertiary level studies to gain a degree of specialized preparation in church leadership.

The Master of Arts (Church Leadership) has been developed to resource and provide professional development for ministers who are leading or are involved in team ministries of churches, and provide follow-up training for ministers who feel a lack of administration skills for the next step in their church's growth. The course is unique in Australia and gives an added dimension to the Leadership 21, the Arrow Leadership and Forge leadership programs.

The Doctor of Ministry program is offered by ACOM in partnership with the Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California, USA. The Fuller DMin is a practical degree intended to equip full-time ministry leaders in various areas of ministry. The structure of the program focuses on aiding students in assessing their personal and ministry health and transforming this assessment into ministry contribution.

For further information on any of these degrees or details of courses being taught at Wollongong Church of Christ and elsewhere can be found on the website of ACOM www.acom.edu.au or email acom@wgongcoc.org
